Everton boss David Moyes will choose between captain Phil Neville and England Under-21 player Jack Rodwell when he decides on Joleon Lescott’s replacement for the Europa League play-off first leg against Sigma Olomouc at Goodison Park.
Wantaway centre-back Lescott, the subject of two bids from Manchester City, has been axed from the squad by Moyes ahead of Thursday’s match because of the manager’s disappointment with his attitude.
With Phil Jagielka still injured, Moyes now has a problem in central defence, and either Neville or Rodwell will play.
Everton squad: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Neville, Rodwell, Baines, Cahill, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini, Saha, Vaughan, Nash, Gosling, Wallace, Baxter, Wallace, Agard.
Horrendous start for the Toffees. Arteta and Jagielka still out. Not enough new quality in. Can Moyes correct the ship and keep Lescott in the process? Time will tell.
